Sagat Architects is a small, service-oriented architectural firm which was established in the summer of 1995. Its founder, John Sagat, has over 35 years of professional experience working on a diversity of project types including retail, office buildings, single and multi-family residential, governmental and commercial. He has practiced as a sole-proprietor and as an employee of SOM, one of the largest firms in the country.

In the course of his career, John has had ongoing working relationships with clients such as Wal-Mart, SuperAmerica and Shopko, doing projects on a nation-wide basis. For his own firm, however, he has chosen to work on a more individual, smaller scale, regional basis.Sagat Architects' clientele is locally based and while most of its work has been in Minnesota or Wisconsin, numerous projects have been completed in Montana and Michigan. Clients include corporate entities, developers, contractors, property managers and an occasional individual. Its corporate client list includes Holiday Stationstores, Gander Mountain, Apple Valley Ready Mix, Abra Auto Body, Northwest Family Physicians, Robin Drug and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

While the greatest volume of work is new construction, many projects are of a remodeling or refurbishing nature. For its property manager clients, the firm provides as-built documentation, space planning and tenant development services. The firm also has experience with medical clinics, apartments, car washes, single family residential, industrial, and fast food projects, as well as code consulting for legal/insurance clientele.

As with other small firms, Sagat Architects has provided backup support for other small architectural firms and has marketed larger projects jointly with other firms if past project experience or client association favored such an association. On an as-needed basis, outside engineering consultants (mechanical, electrical, structural or civil) are utilized for the design services which are not architectural in nature.

Having a professional relationship of over 15 years with several of its clients, Sagat Architects is dedicated to the philosophy of providing services tailored to clients' needs and conducted in the clients' best interests so the end result is a positive and valued outcome for the client.
